Dear parents and carers
It’s beginning to feel a lot more autumnal at the moment isn’t it?! It’s getting nearer to winter coat mode that’s for sure. We do have a really warm building fortunately, so please make sure names are on jumpers, cardigans and coats, especially when they are so expensive to purchase, to make sure nothing becomes lost.
Sponsored events:
I have had a couple of parents ask me if they can have their sponsored events added to the newsletter:
Martin Doughty says:
On 29th & 30th September I am hoping to complete a 100 mile cycle ride challenge in order to raise money for Cancer Research UK, which is a cause close to my heart.
If anyone feels able to make a donation via my Giving Page (shown below) I would be extremely grateful.

And Amy Hartland is once again running the virtual London Marathon on Sunday October 2nd. She is raising money for the Galactosaemia Support Group. Here’s the link for this one…

I am happy to support events like this out of school, but obviously, it is up to you to make a donation if you would like to. I wish both Martin and Amy good luck!!

This week, Foxes and Woodpeckers give their book recommendations.
Mr White recommends 'Leo and the Gorgon's Curse' by Joe Todd Stanton
"An incredible series of books with fantastic art work. Using typical Greek mythology it follows a ‘family collection of stories’, that in this particular book sees them visit Greece. With amazing historical context, it contains an incredible adventure whilst introducing Greek Gods and Goddesses!"
Eddison from Woodpeckers reviews 'The Lighthouse Keeper's Breakfast' by David and Ronda Armitage
"This book is about a husband and wife who own a lighthouse. It has amazing illustrations and is fantastic to read."
Miss Davies enjoys 'Barry, The Fish With Fingers And The Hairy Scary Monster' by Sue Hendra
"I recommend this book because it is a very light hearted and funny story! It’s a book about acceptance and kindness. I recommend this book to everyone! We loved reading it in Fox class this week."
Alana recommends 'Usborne Illustrated Stories for Boys'
"I like this book because it has different chapters. It’s my favourite book! You can use the ribbon to show where you read up to."
There will be a change to the lunch menu on Monday 26th September. The hot meal and vegetarian option will now be macaroni cheese, not spaghetti or vegetable bolognese. Jacket potatoes, hot tomato pasta and sandwiches will still be available.
Mr Mead is still hoping to run his after school tag rubgy club on Mondays, but needs more children to join. If your child is in Years 4, 5 or 6 and would like to take part, please let Mr Mead know. The club will start on Monday 3rd October, if enough children sign up.
Are you ready for a challenge? Take part in the West's biggest mass planting challenge and help to creat a new wildflower meadow at Siston Common. This is taking place on Saturday 1st October at Siston Common between 11.00 am and 5.00 pm. Please see the attached leaflet for more information.
