Dear parents and carers,
This week I have had the privilege to spend time with our Year 6 children, at Mill on the Brue residential centre in Somerset. I want to say an enormous well done to the children, for their tenacity and perseverance, for embracing challenges and generally being brilliant people! Many thanks to the staff who gave up their time to take the children on camp – we all had a great time!
It is the turn of Mrs Brown and Badger class to give their book reviews this week.
Mrs Brown recommends 'A Quiet Night In' by Jill Murphy
"I love this series of books about a family of elephants, called the Large family. It is Mr Large's birthday and Mrs Large has prepared a special birthday meal, but the night doesn't quite go to plan!
The illustrations in this book are fantastic and I love all the adventures the Large family go on! I definitely recommend a read and if you enjoy this book, you could explore others in the series too."
Mr Mead recommends 'The Lost Thing' by Shaun Tan
"This intriguing and captivating tale teaches us all about acceptance and kindness. The boy finds a mysterious creature on the beach. Together they search for a new home for the Lost Thing. It teaches how to accept each other and show kindness and empathy, a great story for all!"
Rose recommends 'The Creakers' by Tom Fletcher
“I recommend this book because the humour makes you laugh out loud whilst reading. I love the new world and the characters that you meet and the book will keep you reading to see what happens next! Can you imagine a world without adults? Read on to see what happens!”
