Dear parents and carers
Becoming an Academy
Thank you to those of you who have taken part in our consultation events this week, and to those of you who have filled in the questionnaire. However, some key information which you might want to consider is below:
- Our school name will stay the same – we will continue to be The Tynings Primary School
- Our uniform will stay the same
- Our head teacher and deputy head teacher will stay the same
- Our curriculum will stay the same
- We will not become a clone of other schools in the Trust!
- We will no longer be a local authority school; this will be a legal change of status
- All schools are required to be part of an Academy Trust by 2030.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask! Many parents are saying they don’t know anything about it – please read the information emailed on October 3rd at 3.30pm to find out more, which is where you will find the questionnaire link. I will also be available to chat about it at parents evening.
Parent’s evenings
Please make sure you have booked a slot to talk to your child’s class teacher. Once again, we will ring a bell to indicate when your appointment time is over, and we ask that you do end your consultation then to keep thing running smoothly. Don’t forget, you can come in to see your child’s work on Tuesday or Wednesday morning.

TYGER by S F Said
I have been waiting for this book to be published, and it finally came out last week! SF Said, the author, came to visit The Tynings to talk about his books ‘Varjak Paw,’ and ‘The Outlaw Varjak Paw,’ both books that my own children enjoyed. He also talked to us about the book he was writing – Tyger, which has taken him nine years to perfect. And it is fantastic! It is the story of Adam and his friend Zadie; the author gives us a really strong picture of what life is like for them, and the battles they face to save Tyger. The book is also brilliantly illustrated by Dave McKean. I devoured this book; it arrived on Friday and by Saturday afternoon I had finished it, it was so good. I would recommend it for any Key Stage two children. Please come and borrow my copy if you are interested in reading it!
