Dear parents and carers
As you have seen, our MUGA was completed over the half term holidays, and we can begin using it next week. We have a special guest coming to officially ‘open’ the MUGA hopefully on November 17th – more details to come!!
Staffing News
Just before half term, Miss Szerences became Mrs Perry – congratulations to her from all of us at Team Tynings.
Miss B Thomas, our Squirrels teacher will sadly be leaving us at Christmas. She has secured a promoted post at Waycroft Academy where she will be their EYFS lead. We wish Miss Thomas the very best of luck in her new role – we are really sad to see her go. The recruitment process to replace Miss Thomas has begun, and as soon as we appoint a new teacher, I will let you know, and of course give Squirrels parents the opportunity to meet the new person.
Miss I Thomas has been very busy on her sabbatical! She has learned to paint in Italy, has been to Switzerland taking in snowy walks in the mountains, and most recently has swum with dolphins in Mauritius, and flown a sea plane! She has taken a little elephant character which we gave her with her, and is sending photos back of ‘Eric’ and herself on their adventures. Next, they are off to Uruguay to learn how to ride horses!
From Monday we will be ‘selling’ poppies; Y6 children will visit all of the classes through the week, for the children to make their donations and receive a poppy. We have a very small amount of other merchandise available, such a snap bands (£1), zip pulls (£1), wristbands (£1) and reflectors (£1). Initially, this extra merchandise will be available to EYFS and KS1 children, with KS2 having the opportunity to have these from Thursday. Poppies will be available every day for everyone.
LEAF consultation
A reminder that our consultation regarding becoming an academy finishes next Friday. It would be great to have as many of you respond to this as possible. I have attached the flyer again, which has information and all of the links for information and the consultation form.

Parent forum
The next forum will take place on Friday 11th November, after drop off, in the hall (about 8.50ish). You are all welcome to attend. If you have any topics which you wish to include in our discussions, please email me [email protected] to let me know. Thank you
A couple of reminders! (Mainly for Y5 & 6 parents)
Since the start of the academic year we have had two incidences of children bringing in ‘puff bars’ or vapes. On one occasion the children tried them. If you or anyone in your family uses these, please could you keep them away from your children and remind them that they are yours. We don’t want any more sneaking into school!!
We positively encourage children to drink water in school, and prefer that this is only water. A small number of children have been bringing in energy drinks which we would prefer children not to have. Thank you
PSFA Christmas Raffle
We are looking for donations to our big Christmas Raffle! If you are able to help, please let us know by Thursday 10th November, by email ([email protected]). This is a great way to support the school and promote your business at the same time.
Thank you for your support!
Owls class read their HOT tasks (alternative endings to 'The Stone age boy' book) to Squirrels class today. It was very quiet as the children listened carefully to each other and everyone said how much they enjoyed it! Thank you, Squirrels!
Reading reminder:
Please note that you are able to record books from home that you share with your child in their reading record books. This still counts towards their reads/ incentive! We ask that children still read their school books with you as their main book for the majority of their reads as this is specific to their reading level and will include sounds and words at your child's level of reading and comprehension. Thank you!

This week we hear from Ms McCormick and Squirrels class with their book recommendations.
Ms McCormick recommends ‘Scavenger Art’ a creative, fun activity book written by Lexi Rees and illustrated by Molly O’ Donoghue.
"This book inspires ideas for indoor and outdoor drawing of everyday items. It encourages curious minds, sparks creativity, practises mindfulness and helps to develop drawing skills. A great book for the holidays, rainy days and to encourage time to look carefully at objects around the home and in nature."
Miss Thomas has chosen ‘One Fox’ by Kate Read
“I bought this book a few weeks ago and my class haven’t put it down! We love the suspense and the excitement that the author has created in this tale about a very famished fox on the hunt.”
Spencer from Squirrels Class has chosen ‘Supertato, Run Veggies Run!’ by Paul Linnet & Sue Hendra
“It has a robot and he tries to eat them all.”
