Dear parents and carers
We have had a great week at The Tynings this week, beginning with our ‘Odd Socks Day’. This was followed by an ‘inter-faith day’ organised by Mrs Brown, where the children learned stories from different faiths, and a Diwali dance workshop for the children from EYFS to Year 3….I have seen brilliant things going on!
Tomorrow is an inset day in which teachers will be working with Dr Debra Kidd on our curriculum, which we are really looking forward to. Of course, it does mean that we are missing Children in Need this year, which feels very strange, so I am pleased to say that Fatimah in Deer class has been doing her own fundraising for this cause. She has completed challenges such as a lap of Pomphrey Hill, a long ramble to Warmley and back, laps of Page Park, a food bank challenge, and leaf art project and even more laps of Pomphrey – in the pouring rain! I am pleased to say that Fatimah has raised £100 for all of her endeavours – well done Fatimah!
Grand MUGA Opening!
Today we had Abi Harrison from Bristol City visit the school, to cut a ribbon to officially open our Games Area. Abi signed many, many autographs, had a small kick about with the Y6 children and then visited the Y6 classes for Q&A sessions. It was an absolute pleasure to host Abi, and see the excitement from the children as they met her as she officially opened the area. Many thanks to the PSFA for their funding donation for this area, and to Bristol Sports for enabling Abi to join us.
Abi happens to be playing at Ashton gate on Sunday, and we all have the opportunity to purchase discount tickets to see her. See below, and the flyers attached.

This week we hear from Deer and Fox class with their reviews.
Miss Hannan recommends the book 'Kevin the Carrot and the Magical Circus'
"Personally, I think it is never too early for Christmas and this is a fantastic, festive tale full of circus fun! This story is inspired by 'The Greatest Showman' and sees Kevin the Carrot as a ring master in his very own circus of vegetables. I love that this book shows how you can do and see the most amazing things when you use your imagination. The children across the school loved listening to this story in assembly last week and it was made even more exciting by the appearance of our real-life Kevin the Carrot!"
Please see our school Facebook page and twitter for information about how you can purchase raffle tickets to become the owner of our giant Kevin.
Will in Deer class recommends the book 'Ug' by Raymond Briggs, because it is a story about a boy who keeps trying.
"I liked that he was very clever and wanted to share his ideas with the people of the Stone Age. This book will make you feel inspired!!"
Miss Davies recommends 'Little Glow' by Katie Sahata & Harry Woodgate, as it is a gem of a book!
"The front cover and illustrations are mesmerizing and draws the reader in. The story revolves around a little candle flame who is present at every event celebrating light."
Aurora from Foxes enjoys 'Tabby McCat' by Julia Donaldson
"There are cats in it and they are my favourite animal. In the story, a man plays music with his cat and people put money in his hat to donate him money. The cat goes on an adventure, it’s brilliant!"
