Dear parents and carers
Welcome to the first newsletter of 2023! It is lovely to have the children back and seeing them enjoy their new learning; Children in EYFS – Y3 are learning about Chinese New Year, China and the Shang Dynasty, Y4 are learning about sound and light through their theme ‘The Iron Man’, Y5 are embarking on a journey through the rainforests and Y6 are learning about evolution.
Following my message earlier in the week about Mrs Butter, we are liaising with her family to have an event in school. The children have asked to share memories, and for us to plant something in our ‘Garden of Hope’ and a parent has suggested we have a non-uniform day wearing bright colours to donate to a charity suggested by Mrs Butter’s family. As soon as we have finalised these arrangements, I will let you know when this will happen. Thank you all for your kind words and support since hearing the news.
Just a few New Year reminders!
- If you are hearing from your child that another child seems to be causing them anguish or hurting them, please can you let the school know so that we can resolve any issues, rather than contact parents directly.
- Children need coats at the moment with the weather so changeable.
- Derek is back!!! Hopefully this will help with safer crossing on Station Road, but don’t forget that it’s really important to park safely around the school.
- Please try to make sure children are wearing the correct uniform – it doesn’t have to have the logo, but the right colours are much appreciated.
- Our school day begins at 8.45 and ends at 3.15. Doors in the morning open at 8.40 for the children to come in and settle.
Reading cafes will continue this term. We love inviting parents/carers/grandparents in to share our enjoyment of reading. As always, come in with your child at the start of the day (on the given dates) and enjoy a book with your child. Reading cafes will close at 9:10. Thank you for your support.
Reading cafe dates:
Friday 3rd February
Friday 3rd March
Friday 5th May
Friday 9th June
Friday 7th July
