Dear parents and carers
Thank you to all of those who came to the EYFS to Y3 ‘Festival of Light’ yesterday. It was good to see so many parents and carers enjoying looking at the children’s learning and a hot chocolate. Thank you to the EYFS to Y3 team for organising it!
Pokemon and football cards
For the moment, I would ask that children do not bring in their Pokemon or football cards, as it is causing arguments and distress, both for those who bring them in, as well as for those who don’t! I would like to talk to school council to plan a way around this, as I do think the children enjoy playing with them, and I am sure we can find a solution. Please bear with me whilst this is sorted out. Thank you.
School bags
As you know, our cloakrooms are in the corridors of the school. At the moment, lots of children are bringing in large rucksacks to school, putting these on their pegs, and then putting their coats and jumpers etc on top of this. Unfortunately, there isn’t room for this and things end up all over the floor and ultimately, lost. My feeling is, that children do not need rucksacks; this worked very well during covid when we reduced the items children were bringing in from home, and I would like to encourage everyone to go back to this. Children should have their book bag, with their book in, their lunchbox if they are packed lunches and on forest school days, clothing to change into. Some children also require a change of clothing, spare pants etc, which can be safely kept in a dap bag. I would be very grateful if you could persuade your child not to bring in their rucksacks to carry everything in! Thank you
Communication with school
Thank you for using the systems we have in place to email us with information you need to share. Please can you make clear the name of your child when corresponding, as occasionally your surname/email address might not match your child’s name, which can cause confusion! Thank you.
Local Authority Visit
Last week we had a monitoring visit from the LA, who were extremely pleased with what they saw. Following our inspection last April, when we were graded ‘good,’ the visitors came in to see what progress we had made on our development points…we are well on our way to achieving these, and the LA feel that they do not need to come back to check in on us again
Throughout February half term, Bristol Sport Foundation will be running multi-sport holiday camps at various venues across Greater Bristol. They offer a variety of sporting opportunities, with an emphasis on inclusivity, high activity levels and fun. Their camps provide the perfect environment for children to fall in love with sport and enjoy being active whilst making new friends.
They will be running their Staple Hill Forever Sport Holiday Camp during February half term, which will be hosted at The Tynings Primary School, BS16 4SG. Please find attached their poster, providing further details and information on how to book.
