Dear parents and carers
Unfortunately I have not been in school all week, as I have had the flu-like lurgy which is going around. I have missed all of the build up to Easter, and particularly the judging of competitions set by the PSFA! I hope that you all have a wonderful Easter break, and that we all return happy, safe and well.
Bullying
There have been an increased number of incidents of bullying in our school, particularly involving our older children. Some of this is via phones and in particular WhatsApp groups – it would really help us if you were able to keep an eye on your children’s accounts and remind them about kindness to others. We will be revisiting all of our learning on Bullying in assemblies next term, and reminding the children about what it entails and how we can reduce the number of incidents in our school. Bullying is not acceptable at The Tynings. We will look to involve you as parents, wherever we have confirmed cases, and work together to support those who are bullied and to ensure those who are bullying STOP!
School Attendance
Our overall attendance so far this year is 93.3%, and whilst this is only 0.3% behind the national average, it is below our expected target of 96%. Attendance is always a tricky one for schools. We are expected to get you, to get your children, into school, however, when there are illnesses like we haven’t seen for a few years, as well as the 48 hour rule after being sick or having diarrhoea and with holidays cheaper in term time etc etc, we do understand. It is therefore, all the more important that we work together to ensure the children have access to the education they are entitled to. I really appreciate the efforts that you go to, to ensure your children are in school, on time, every day. Thank you
Congratulations to the following children, who have won an Easter egg from the PSFA for their Easter competition entries.
