Dear parents/carers,
Again, many thanks for all of your efforts with your children in keeping them at home and doing your very best to keep them occupied and learning. There are plenty of new activities on the website this week, and there are also messages from the class teachers. Please do go and have a good look, but don’t forget, you can only do so much. It’s important that you and your children are as happy as you can be in these difficult times. This week the children in school have been working on the theme of ‘Under the Sea’ – I hope you have had chance to catch up with what they have been up to using our Twitter feed. Don’t forget to download the app and look for @tyningsschool to follow us.
Attached to this newsletter are a number of challenges from CSET, one of our sports providers. Included in this is a home cross country league – it would be fantastic if we could have a strong representation in this as we will be competing with other schools in the local area (all virtually of course!) Look at the ‘CSET daily and weekly challenges’ for details.
Next week, we will have available the opportunity to change reading books. If you wish to change children’s reading book, we will have tables set up outside the main entrance to the school with baskets of books for you to select 2/3 books and a returns box to collect all of the books you are bringing back. This will happen on a rota basis, so we can minimise the number of adults on site. Please do not bring your children with you if you can at all avoid doing so. We would also ask that you make sure you practice social distancing whilst choosing/waiting for books. Books will be available as follows:
Monday 10.00-12.00 EYFS
Monday 1.00-3.00 Y1
Tuesday 10.00-12.00 Y2
Tuesday 1.00-3.00 Y3
Wednesday 10.00-12.00
Wednesday 1.00-3.00 Y4, Y5, Y6
We hope you find this useful, and would like to do this fortnightly whilst we are in lockdown. As this is something different, we may have to review how we do this, depending on how well it works/demand for books etc, so please be patient with us.
As you have only recently had a new set of baby photos, I will post some more next week, with the answers to this week’s set….I know some of you have found one of them very easy to guess!
Have your children learnt any new skills whilst they have been off? Would you like to share them with us? I have finally learnt how to moonwalk!!!! I would like to set everyone else the challenge of also learning how to moonwalk (staff and children, and parents too if you fancy it!) so that when we return we can have some fun sharing with each other. As you know, we love seeing and hearing about what you have been doing so please keep sending things in via email [email protected] or via Twitter. Everything is forwarded to class teachers and they always try to respond or tweet. If you do need any help for us, the best way of getting in touch is also via email, as the office doesn’t always have a member of staff present. I hope that you feel we are getting things right in these very strange circumstances where we are all having to learn as we go along!
Take care and stay safe,
Lois Haydon, Head Teacher
The Tynings Primary School
