Dear parents and carers
Another week full of dragons! This week the Year 4 children worked with artist Darrell Wakelam to build a 2D cardboard dragon – it looks fantastic.
I have read some fabulous poems and seen some brilliant art work – I did, however, give you the wrong dates for our exhibition! The exhibition will take place on the 15th and 16th of June (not the previous week.) We would love you to come into school between the hours of 9am and 5.30, to have a guided tour of our exhibits.
I hope that you all have a lovely half term, and look forward to seeing you back on Monday 5th June.
Salvation Army books
The Salvation Army have donated several books for each EYFS and Y1 child, and they will be bringing these home. Many thanks to the Salvation Army for these free books – everything helps to keep our children reading!

If you have any questions about the Sex Education curriculum or you would like to see the lesson plans in more detail, or have a look at any of the resources, please email the school for my attention. I am happy to answer any questions you may have or go through the lessons and resources with you.

The volunteers running 7th Kingswood Brownies at St Stephens Church in Soundwell are unable to continue running the group due to work commitments and the group may have to close if new volunteers cannot be found.
Brownies is full of firsts for many girls, she might grow her first plant, cook her first cake, put up (and take down) her first tent, or light her first fire. With a helpful hand from our encouraging volunteers, she’ll explore her creative side, get out into the great outdoors, and start learning to look after herself, others and the world we live in.
Brownies gives young people a space to be themselves and discover new things. Girlguiding provides many opportunities for volunteers too, from getting to know more people in the community and making friendships locally to gaining new skills and increasing confidence.
You don’t need to have any knowledge of Girl Guiding to get involved and we can offer you the support and training to ensure it is as fun for you as it is the young people. There are plenty of ways you can still make an impact in a supporting role too, whether that’s digitally or on an ad-hoc basis. No commitment is too small – every role is vital to running our charity. If you would like to know more about the group and discuss how you can get involved with 7th Kingswood Brownies, then please contact either Jo or Stacy on [email protected] 07774 640229 or [email protected] 07774 631627
CBBC and Lion Television are casting a new series about sustainable fashion and are looking for budding young designers aged 10-14 years old, (they must be aged 11 by September 1st 2023).
Each episode will see young creative minds come together to create bold and colourful outfits reusing, re-claiming and upcycling fabulous fashion by using only vintage, second-hand and sustainable materials.
The children will need to be great designers but do not necessarily have to be great with a sewing machine as they’ll be paired with a creative who can help them cut/sew/stitch/paint their outfits within a few hours!
Anyone interested in applying can email [email protected] or apply through the CBBC Website on the following link - Be on a Show: Style It Out - CBBC - BBC
