Dear parents and carers
There is definitely a more Autumnal feeling in the air – thank you to those who have provided welly boots for their children, they are definitely needed!
Staff news
I am delighted to share some celebrations with you! At the weekend, Mr Mundy, our caretaker, was recognised for his 40 years of voluntary service, working with the scouts. A brilliant achievement!
As well as this, Mrs Berger received confirmation that she has passed her National SENCo award – with a distinction! We all know how fabulous she is, and now this has been recognised by others.
Well done to both of them.
Remembrance Parade
We are lucky to be able to join Staple Hills’ Remembrance parade this year, taking place on Sunday 12th November. We will also be laying a wreath on behalf of The Tynings. After half term I will send out a letter inviting the children to take part. Please look out for this, as it would be wonderful to have the school represented by our children. I know many will already be taking part with brownies/guides/scouts, but I would like a group from school too. More details to follow.
Car parking
What feels like a regular reminder!! Please park courteously around the school, making sure that we don’t block the driveways of local residents.
Also, the school car park is for staff only, unless you have a disabled badge. This is for the safety of our children and our staff. Unfortunately, one of our cars was bumped this week, and we have no idea how it happened!
PSFA Activities
The two discos last night were a great success! Thank you for getting your children dressed up, but most importantly, many thanks to the team of volunteers who set up, ran and cleaned up the event. We can’t run these events without your help!
Don’t forget, next Friday is the PSFA firework display. I am looking forward to the first ever event of this kind, which I am sure will be a great success too!
Dear Parents/Carers,
Please can you donate some food for harvest because we are collecting for the foodbank. More people are using foodbanks because bills are rising, and they are struggling to pay for food. We would like to make sure all the people who live near us have enough food to eat.
Please can you bring in your donation to school by Wednesday 18th October. We really appreciate your kindness, and we know that the foodbank will be really grateful. Below is a shopping list from the foodbank to give you some ideas.
Thank you so much!
From the children in Robins class
On Friday 20th October, we invite all staff and children to wear something pink to be part of the 'Wear it pink' campaign, to raise money for breast cancer research in memory of our friend and colleague, Mrs Butter.
Please can your child bring in a donation (no matter how small) and hand it in to their class teacher.
If your child does not have any pink clothing then a pink ribbon, pink scarf or pink socks would be great with non-uniform.
For further information about the charity, please see:

There is a free summit with a variety of speakers. Interestingly, one of the speakers has a section about how children mask their needs during a school day. The videos are available for 24 hours to watch.

Lifeskills have created a fantastic realistic village which enabled The Tynings Primary pupils to learn how to deal with difficult and potentially dangerous situations, in a safe and supportive environment. The Year 6’s learnt about road and railway safety, how to deal with hazardous scenes set up in kitchens, living rooms and at a substation. They learnt some basic first aid and practiced making emergency phone calls.
Each year Lifeskills welcome over 10,000 children to the centre. Lifeskills is based in South Bristol, in the Create Centre and they are currently looking for volunteers to help take children on tours. Volunteering at Lifeskills is really flexible, fun and a great way to learn new skills. If you’d like to visit the centre and learn more about volunteering, call; 0117 922 45 11 or email; [email protected]. Please also see the attached poster.
