Dear parents and carers
It may have been cold this week, but the children have embraced the weather, and wrapped up warm, getting outside and making frost angels and ice art, which has been lovely to see.
ATTENDANCE
There is a certain irony that on the week I mention attendance to you, we are hit with a nasty flu/covid-like illness which has spread very quickly! This week, attendance is down to 93.4%, with today being at 89%.... many children have been very unwell, and are definitely better at home, so please don’t worry! As I said last week, I know you do your very best to make sure the children are in school, let’s keep working together to try and hit that 96% target by the end of the year!
CONGRATULATIONS!
…to Miss Page who has been successful in passing her Level 3 teaching assistant apprenticeship. We are all very proud of her!
PSFA
I had the pleasure of attending the PSFA AGM last week, where the committee were elected and we shared ideas for future plans. The committee, led by Natalie Williams are always keen for members of our school family to join them, and their next meeting is at the ‘King Billy’ 7pm on Wednesday 21st February. It would be great if you could go along and find out a bit more, to see what is involved in the work they do.
Events currently being planned include the Valentines Disco, a School Grounds Day (to give everywhere a spring clean and re-vamp our pond area), colouring competitions, the summer fair, fireworks and the Christmas Fair. This is all to raise money so that we can add mud kitchens and a sand pit to our school grounds to enhance play and to support us in purchasing new library books. I wonder, does anyone have a boat that they are looking to offload? I would love to have a boat in the grounds for the children to play in!
LEAF LITERATURE FESTIVAL
Just a reminder that we will be taking part in the Leaf Literature Festival, and that the children can enter a book mark making competition now. Details are included in today’s newsletter! The closing date is next Friday.
