Dear parents and carers
I have seen some great learning this week – in EYFS/Y1, I sat in phonics sessions and saw that real progress has been made with learning how to read, & I have seen some brilliant ‘brain dumps’ and cartoon strips describing the Great Fire of London from Foxes class. Well done everyone!
ATTENDANCE
The flu/covid illness is still with us, and is gradually making its way around the staff now! I hope everyone begins to feel better soon. Total attendance so far this academic year is 94.3%, whilst national figures are 94.3%.
BEHAVIOUR
This week we have seen some behaviour that is not acceptable in our school. There has been some fighting, and a ridiculous amount of swearing from children of all ages.
We have high expectations of the behaviour of our children, and would like to make sure that things become more calm and appropriate. Please understand that if you receive a call from a member of staff about your child’s behaviour, we are looking for your support – we investigate incidents very thoroughly, and try to work with the children to help them to understand when their behaviour has been wrong. We can only make this work if you are able to reinforce the same messages at home.
Our behaviour code is ‘ready, respectful and safe.’ Unfortunately, the behaviour of a very small minority means that some children are not feeling safe, which is incredibly sad in our primary school, and something we are working hard to change.
Please see the attached poster from Bristol Sport, regarding their February holiday club.
