Dear parents/carers
I hope you have had a good week and that you have all managed to enjoy at least some of the beautiful weather we are having. I wouldn’t usually send out a newsletter during half term, but I think it might be useful today!
Last night, the Prime Minister said that schools will begin to admit more children from June 1st, which means our plan for a phased return will go ahead, and we are really looking forward to seeing everyone! Children in EYFS can return on Monday 1st June, Year 1 on Wednesday 3rd June, and Year 6 on Monday 8th June. With the numbers who have indicated they are returning, we are able to have most of the children with their current class teacher, apart from Owls, and Kestrels. See updated table…

Once again, I hope this information is clear. Please let us know if you have any questions. In order to maintain safety, please note that the office will not be available for any queries face to face. Anything you wish to ask must be via phone or, preferably, email. Hopefully you will have received a message today about remembering sun cream and hats. We won’t be able to help your children apply cream for the time being, so please could you get them to practice! Children must also have their water bottle with them. Please remember, they do not need to bring in school bags. If you decide that you would like your child(ren) to return to school and haven’t already indicated this to us, please email the office to let us know. It would be really helpful if you were able to do this at least two days in advance. Thank you.
Uniform: It would be great if children were able to wear their uniform, but I realise they may have outgrown things or you may want to wash things they wear each day. Please could you send children to school in a ‘relaxed’ uniform. This could be ordinary shorts, but school t-shirts (and jumpers if needed.) If you can try to stick to uniform, great, but if you can’t, try and stay smart but ready to be active. Key worker children should also have this ‘uniform.’
Reading books: we will continue to have books available to change in the lobby to the school, as well as engage those children in school with changing their own books, although this may be different to how it has previously been done. Please remember to maintain social distancing if you do come in to change books, and wait outside if there is already someone in the lobby. It could get very busy if everyone chooses to change books at drop off/pick-up times.
Home learning: For those children not in school, in whichever year group, we will continue to post home learning activities on our website. The learning carried out in school, and the work on the website will be aligned with each other so the children will be working on similar things. Please continue with trying to engage your children in some home learning, especially if they are not coming back to school soon! Reading is critical, so if you can only manage one thing try to make it daily reading. Thank you.
Thank you for all of your support over the past weeks – it has been a very different time for all of us. I hope you are all safe and well, and look forward to seeing some of you very soon.
Warmest regards,
Lois Haydon Head Teacher
