Dear parents and carers,
We have had a brilliant week here in school, with our EYFS, Year 1 and keyworker children. It has been so good to see lots of smiling faces from children, staff and parents! Next week we add Year 6 into the mix – we are looking forward to seeing you all! Please see below for specific details for Year 6 parents and children. Thank you to everyone who has brought their children for observing social distancing around the school.
During lockdown, Dylan from Rabbits has taken on the challenge of a 28 day scooter challenge to raise money for Bristol animal rescue Centre. He has already raised over £700 – brilliant riding Dylan – we are really proud of you! You can support Dylan if you wish to, by clicking here: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/melissa-taylor-5?utm_id=125
Attached to this newsletter, is the final ‘Guess the baby’ for you to have a bit of fun with. Also attached in the CSET Quadkids challenge. This is open to all age groups and is a really good way of getting active – especially for those children who aren’t in school at the moment. We would love to see The Tynings win some medals for this!
Returning to school.
Please remember, if your child is in EYFS, Y1 or Y6 or you are a keyworker, you must email to let us know if your child is attending school, if you have not done so already. We would prefer to have at least two days notice of this to help us to organise our ‘bubbles.’ For those children who are not entitled to free school meals, please can you pay via SIMsPAY, if you wish your child to have a school packed lunch.
From Monday (8th June) please can keyworker children use the Jubilee Road gate to come onto the school premises. The children’s base will be the Elliot building (Kingfisher and Woodpecker classrooms) You will still need to sign the children in, so Mrs Mundy or another adult will be waiting in the gazebo to do this. The children will go straight into the classrooms to Mr Griffiths, Mrs Board, and Mr White – they should not be on the playground!
For Year 6 children, please use the Eastleigh Close access and go round to the classroom doors. We appreciate that some children may be walking to school by themselves – this is fine, but please can you remind them to make sure they are socially distancing and that they do not arrive on school premises before 9.10 ready for a 9.15 start. We do not want children hanging around on the playground please! There is a slight change to the plans – those children who are with Miss Hudson will be in Otters classroom and those who are with Miss Curtis/Miss Kaur will be in Kestrels classroom.
Many thanks to those of you who have sent kind messages to school supporting what we are doing. It has been lovely to receive flowers, (thank you Alex) biscuits, (thank you Amy and Nathan) and fudge, and really fantastic to receive pictures and cards which the children have made – thank you Bats for your message today, and to all of the children who have sent in messages to their teachers. It always makes us smile! We look forward to seeing more or you when we can.
Best wishes,
Lois Haydon Head Teacher
