Dear parents/carers
We are rapidly coming towards the end of term! We finish school for the summer next week, so children in EYFS, Y1 and Y6 have their last day next Thursday (16th July) and children of keyworkers finish on Friday (17th July.) Monday 20th July is an inset day.
TRANSITION: We have begun our transition events and look forward to seeing more of you next week when the children have their opportunity to see both their current class teacher and next year’s teacher. I have added the schedule for this to this week’s newsletter to remind everyone when these are taking place.

SUMMER READING CHALLENGE: This year's Summer Reading Challenge 2020 has been launched and you are being asked to get silly! The theme for the Challenge is “Silly Squad” – a celebration of funny books, happiness and laughter. The Summer Reading Challenge website will be free to access and a place where children can rate and review their books and work towards their reading goal. It will also feature video content, games, quizzes and digital and downloadable activities to incentivise and encourage children and their families to take part in the Challenge at home. Find out all about this year's challenge: https://summerreadingchallenge.org.uk/
REPORTS: During the course of the day, your child’s report will be sent to you via email. Please be patient with us regarding this – as you can imagine, sending out over 380 reports by email does take time! You will also notice that I haven’t signed most of them this year due to the electronic format.
PARENT GOVERNORS: We have two vacancies for parent governors, which we will be advertising for properly when we return in September. A school governor has a critical role to play in the development of our school, in supporting myself and the leadership team to have the best school we can possibly be. It involves 4 full governing body meetings per year and up to 5 committee meetings. What we need are parents who are interested in giving their time to the school, who are able to communicate their ideas and who support what we are trying to achieve. If this is you, and you would like more information, please email the school and we will forward this to our Chair of Governors, Beth Monis (Y1 parent.) We really do need you for this!
PLANS FOR SEPTEMBER: Next week I will send out our updated risk assessment in preparation for a full return for all children in September. The guidance from the DfE and the local authority is that all children should return to school. I have included a ‘frequently asked questions’ sheet from the local authority which may help you with any questions you have. My plan so far is that all children will return to school on Wednesday 2nd September. We will operate in year group bubbles, where children will be able to mix in a wider group. Break times and lunchtimes will be staggered, and for these to work, we will have EYFS, Y1 and Y2 outside together, Y3 and Y4 outside together, and Y5 and Y6 outside together. The start and end of the day times may also be staggered to reduce the number of people on site at any one time. The expectation will be that children return to school in the full school uniform, and that they continue to wear their PE kit on PE days – we will let you know when these are in September. Full details will be available next week.

This is an artists, makers and designers trail. One of our parents will be taking part in the three day event just up the road from the school in Narrow Lane. It would be great for them to have some local support. Please see the attached flyer for more details.
