Dear parents/carers
Thank you for all of your donations today – the children will be able to have a very festive end to the school year! The PFSA have also donated crackers and decorations for our Christmas lunch, so I would like to take this opportunity to say an enormous thank you to them for their support. It would be great if the children could wear Christmas jumpers to school next Wednesday to give even more of a festive feel. They can wear these jumpers instead of their school jumpers, with their uniform. Please do not rush out to buy a jumper though, if you don’t already have one – school jumpers are just as welcome!
Monday is Christmas Shop Day! There are some really lovely gifts which the PFSA have sourced for the children to choose from, and we have thought really carefully about how we can make this a covid-safe experience. For just £3 your child can purchase a secret, ready wrapped gift for you and other members of your family! This year we have asked that parents use SIMs Pay for this – thank you to those who have been able to do this. However, we are aware that some children might decide they want to do this on the day, in which case, please send the money in a labelled envelope (Include your child’s name, whether the gift is for a male or female and the amount of money enclosed. £3 per gift.)
School Grounds Working Party: We have plenty of ideas for enhancing the school grounds and creating all year round useable spaces – a multi-use games area, an EYFS playground, re-surfacing the play trails etc. We now feel that it is time to have a strategic plan in place so that everyone knows exactly what we are working towards, where the funding is coming from, and a timeline of when things will happen. We are looking to set up a ‘grounds working party’ of staff, governors, PFSA and parents, who will develop our plan together. If you have ideas, knowledge about building works or funding opportunities, or are just really interested, please let the office know and we will set up a remote meeting in the New Year.
Just a quick reminder – we are having open windows/doors as one of our covid prevention measures. If your child feels the cold, they are welcome to wear an extra layer or two! The heating is also on.
EYFS and Year 1 would like to thank the PSFA for their cooking donation to enable us to celebrate Christingle this week. We have enjoyed making our own Christingles to take home as part of our "Light and Dark" topic learning about this Christian festival of light.

This week, it is the turn of Owls & Falcons to give their book recommendations.
Mrs Berger recommends 'The Ship of Shadows' by Maria Kuzniar.
"This is an amazing book full of magic, adventure and pirates! Aleja and her pirate pals join together to find a missing piece of a map hidden in a lost city deep in the Sahara desert. Lots of adventures unfold which keep you on the edge of your seat. The vivid descriptions of the different places visited are amazing and really help you to imagine Aleja's world in your mind. I loved it and, if you like adventurous tales, you will too!"
Mrs McNeill recommends ‘How to Catch a Star’ by Oliver Jeffers.
"This has been one of our class books and in Owl class we love reading the story over and over again!.
We love the illustrations and we have really enjoyed making our own rockets and stars. I think the children in Owl class would all love to fly to the moon!
We also like the story because the boy tries over and over again to reach his dreams and is successful in the end because of his perseverance."
Rose from Owls recommends ‘The Way Back Home’ By Oliver Jeffers.
"I like it because they both get stuck on the moon and they become friends. I also like it because they both get home carefully."
