Dear parents & carers
I hope you are feeling that the children have settled back into routines and are happy in school – that’s the feeling that we are getting! If there are any issues, please do get in touch with myself, Mrs Berger or Mrs Poole, and we will always do our best to help you.
We have had a great day today wearing our hero outfits – it was good to see the NHS represented as heroes too! We set up a photo booth for EYFS and KS1 – look out for the photos on Tapestry and Google Classroom.
Thanks to your support, we have raised over £350 for Comic relief! Thank you
School Grounds Working Party
Thank you to those who have volunteered to be part of our School Grounds group – we would love to have more parents involved! We are looking for those of you who have a keen interest in how we can use our beautiful grounds as a resource for playing and learning. Everyone is welcome – just bring ideas. If you are interested, please email the school office to let Mrs Haydon know.
As a National Day of Reflection has been set up for next Tuesday 23rd March, Christ Church, Downend wanted to respond and give people a chance to join in. So, the church will be open for prayer during that day. This is in addition to their Tree of Hope initiative, mentioned in last week's newsletter. Please click on the link below for the flyer regarding this.

This week, Mrs Symons and Bat class give their book recommendations.
Mrs Symons' review is of 'A first Nature Book' by Nicola Davies and illustrated by Mark Hearld.
"This book is a remarkable mix of poetry, scrapbook, recipes, and facts all illustrated with marvellous art to discover nature on our doorstep. I have dipped into this book during many seasons and to enrich topic work."
Mrs Board recommends the book 'Wolf Brother' by Michelle Paver.
"It is a story that carries you back thousands of years where magic is the only explanation of the unknown. It is a gripping Bronze Age quest where the hero, Torak, is alone, wounded, terrified and on the run. Torak’s only friend and ally is an orphaned wolf cub.
This book is suitable for older junior children who are independent and fluent readers but it is also a good bedtime read for younger junior children who enjoy having a book read to them."
Eddie in Bat Class recommends 'Dog Man Lord of the Flies' by Dav Pilkey.
"I like it because Petey invented a robot that looked exactly like him. One of the guards is really funny. He keeps saying “You’re not building this are you?” and Petey says “No”. It’s got lots of funny characters like the chief and the illustrations are good. There’s a lot of good costumes. There are also lots of flip-o-ramas and if you flip them really fast it looks like a cartoon."
