Dear parents and carers
I am pleased to say we raised £364 for Comic Relief last Friday – thank you for your brilliant support. We all had a great day in our hero outfits!
Parents evenings will take place the first week back after Easter. We will be using a different system to book and host the meetings to ensure that you can at least see the teacher you are talking too, even though the meetings will not be in the school building. As soon as this system goes live, we will let you know so that you can book your slot.
Covid testing
Further guidance has been issued regarding the testing for Covid in children. I know sometimes this can be confusing, but the rule of thumb is that if your child has symptoms, you should book a PCR test at a test centre, rather than use an LFT which secondary aged pupils have.
LFTs (lateral flow tests) are available to parents of primary aged children; details of how to access these tests are available in the attached letter. Also attached is a letter detailing who you need to contact in the Easter holidays should there be a cases of Covid in your household.
Aspens: Term 5 and 6 menu
There will be a return to the 3 week menu plan after the Easter holidays; lunches will continue to be served in takeaway boxes for the children to eat in their classrooms for the time being. Halal meals will also available, for those who require it. Please see the link below for the new 3 week menu. We will be on week 2, when the children return.
As we are not in school next Friday, the usual fish fingers and chips will now be served on Thursday.

Winter Grant Scheme
The Winter Grant scheme aims to help meet immediate needs and really support those families who are struggling to afford food and utility bills (heating, cooking, lighting) and water for household purposes (including drinking, washing, cooking, central heating, sewerage and sanitary purposes), or other related essentials, such as blankets and which may include white goods.
Parents and Carers can contact CAB on 01454 334961 or the Council on 0800 953 7778 Quoting Winter Grant funding.
Hey everyone! Hopefully you're all back into the swing of school runs, homework and uniform washing, who'd have thought you could miss it all!!
Along with being in school, our fundraising has also had to take a break recently. But now we're back we are starting to think ahead to what events and activities we can hold, and the good news is you don't have to wait long. The better news is we don’t even need volunteers!
Today all children will bring home a tube of Smarties – a dairy free alternative will be given where needed. The children are free to eat them, share them with their siblings or even give them to their parents, just hold onto the tube!
We’d like the children to fill the tubes with as many coins as they are able to. The tubes don’t have to be completely filled and coins can be of any value. Then simply return the tubes to school by Thursday 1st April complete with a label showing the child’s class name. The class with the most returned tubes will win an Easter themed prize.
Any funds raised over the remainder of this year will go towards new music equipment and the redecoration of The Warren.
Given our current restrictions we don’t have much in the pipeline just yet but providing everything goes according to plan we do hope to be able to put on a summer event so look out for more information soon (we might need volunteers for that one!)
The PSFA
Year 3 have been studying the Easter story and making matchboxes of objects to remind how to tell the story!
Alec in Year 6 has completed a litter pick along the cycle track. This was in response to a lesson for Census Let's Count Day, where the children had to pick up litter from the play ground and then sort and count it.
We hear from Hedgehogs and Kingfishers this week, with their book recommendations.
Mrs English recommends 'Pop Up Seasons' by Anna Milbourne.
"From a nestful of spring chicks and a summer meadow, to the whirling leaves of autumn and a snowy forest. I love the 3D scenes and exploring the four seasons in this wonderful pop-up book. With stunning illustrations and simple text, this is a delightful book to share with all the family."
"I like Stickman because Father Christmas lets him go home. I also like to make Stick man in class."
Miss Davies recommends ‘The boy, the mole, the fox and the horse’ by Charlie Mackesy.
"This book is a real heart warmer! It is a lovely and quite poetic read with some beautiful and inspirational language. The characters meet quite unexpectedly and form wonderful friendships as they embark on a new adventure together. I recommend this book to everyone because it shares a great message of the importance of being kind and caring to all we meet."
Joseph from Kingfishers recommends ‘Holes’ by Louis Sachar.
"This book is about a boy named Stanley who was falsely accused of stealing shoes. He had the choice to either go to prison or camp Greenlake where you have to dig holes 5 feet deep and 5 feet wide all the time! At camp Greenlake, Stanley makes some friends and they dig holes in their group. Why are they digging holes? Well, read this book to find out!"
