Dear parents and carers
What a beautiful week it has been, and how lucky we are coming back to school with such lovely weather! The children are certainly enjoying being back, especially now that we have new playground markings and that the Play Pod has been restocked and reopened. It is fantastic to see everyone playing so well together, and of course this great weather means the field can be used so the children are revelling in the space they have to play in. Thank you to the PFSA for funding the Play Pod for us! And of course, look out for the launch of our ‘daily mile’ now that the track is ready for us.
It has also been a week of sadness for us, with the sudden death of one of our Year 5 parents – I have been thoroughly reminded of how amazing our community is and how supportive you are as a group of parents, of each other and of the staff and children. Thank you.
Bunches Flower Shop
Before Easter, Bunches ran a competition to see what a ‘flowerpot bird’ might look like, based on a poem. Many of our classes took part in the completion, and I am delighted to say that we have a number of winners!
Well done to George, Jack and Kallum in Owls, Joey, James and Ben MJ in Otters, and Iris in Kestrels.
E-safety warning
We have had a report regarding the use of the ‘Go Live’ app, which is similar to Tic-tok. Unfortunately the report we have received indicates that children are being groomed via the Go Live app, and that whoever is using the app to do this is being creative in gaining the trust of children and finding out where they live. Whilst we have a thorough e-safety programme in school, sometimes children are unaware of what is happening to them until it is too late. If your child has the Go Live app on their phone, I would urge you to ask them to remove it, or for you to at least check what is happening on there with your child.
Y6 Camp
The government road map indicates that we will be able to take this year’s Y6 children to Osmington Bay in July! This is good news – the PGL camp have sent through details of how they are making sure they are Covid safe and I am reassured that they have thought of as much as they can to make sure the children have a happy, safe end to their year. This year’s Y6 have missed out on so much, so I am really pleased we can take them on July 12th returning on July 15th (four days, three nights.)
We are looking into what we can do for our current Y5, but we intend to provide a camp for them. Once we have finalised plans, we will share them with you.
#Getthetyningsbuzzing.
Spring has sprung which brings longer days and sunshine and... bees. Bees are so important and we’d like you to get involved with a bee based project this term. Please see the attached leaflet for more details on how to enter.
