Dear parents and carers
This week we have had part 2 of our local authority review, which was equally as successful as last week. I am really proud of the hard work which everyone has put in over the past three years, and that this is being recognised. There is a confidence all around the building that things are going well, and the local authority also recognises that we are continuing to improve – we are not standing still! Thank you to all of the staff, and thank you to you, for all of the support you give to our school.
Review of Vision and Aims of the school
The staff and governors have been working on the vision and aims over the past few months, stemming from the new values of Kindness, Respect and Curiosity. We will add these to our website shortly, but in the meantime, if you have any comments about them, please let me know.
Vision:
Our school empowers all students to embrace learning, achieve their best, and build their emotional, social and physical well-being. We offer a safe, happy place where everyone is known and valued, and where differing needs are acknowledged.
Aims
The staff, parents and governors have agreed that the core aims of Team Tynings are that our learners
- Feel safe, happy and valued
- Will develop the confidence to give things a go
- Are curious, creative and collaborative
- Are mentally and physically healthy
- Will become responsible and respectful, and actively care about an ever changing world
- Achieve high standards and fulfil their potential across the curriculum
School grounds developments
During Term 6 we will be having ground work done to create a second playground, and to create an all-weather surface in the exceptionally muddy space where the older play trail sits. The second playground will be sited where the Station Road path and maze currently are, and will be used by EYFS and KS1 children primarily. There will be a new play structure in both areas – see the poster attached for details. We are looking forward to watching the developments, and to having more weatherproof play space for the children!

Inappropriate language
There is a significant amount of swearing coming from some of the older children at the moment – completely against our value of Respect. In order to try to reduce, or ideally stop the use of such language, teachers or teaching assistants will be calling you whenever incidents happen. We hope that you can support us in this and reinforce with your children that swearing in school is very wrong. I am rather saddened that some of our children know such a range of inappropriate words.
PSHE – Sex and Relationships Education
We continue to teach the PSHE curriculum through the ‘Jigsaw’ scheme of work.
Next week we will be starting our topic on Relationships, leading onto Sex Education after half term (This will be during the week beginning 7th June).
The statutory guidance for Relationships and Sex Education states that parents have the right to request that their child be withdrawn from Sex Education lessons.
Please see the attached guide for more information.
This week we ran 4013 laps, or 802600m, or 502 miles. That’s 66,884 double decker buses.
In total we have covered 6060 laps, or 1212000m or 758 miles. This means we have just entered Poland.
We also nearly doubled last weeks total so we are doing really well!

This week we hear from Miss McCormick and Squirrel class with their book reviews.
Miss McCormick recommends ‘A Poem For Every Day Of The Year’ (edited by Allie Esiri) for KS2 children and adults.
"This book is a treasure in my house; it takes you on a delightful poetic journey through the year, telling of festivals and traditions from many different cultures. Look out for ‘A Poem For Every Night Of The Year’ which is an equally beautiful collection."
Miss Thomas' review is of 'The Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Book' by Lucy Rowland
"I think you should buy this book as soon as you read this! It is a fab twist on a tale we all know and love! The illustrations are gorgeous and you meet lots of traditional characters along the way! The boy loves a bedtime story but soon the three little pigs come knocking on his front door! Enjoy!"
