Dear parents and carers
This week we have been excited to see that a woodpecker has taken up residence in the Tynings tree! We have also heard the chirping of chicks, and think we have a family there. We love the surroundings that we have and the nature that lives here! Thank you to Miss Page for taking the photograph.
Risk Assessment updates
We have made the decision to keep our current arrangements in place, despite the change to national restrictions this week. This means that we will continue to ask you to wear masks on pick up and drop off, and the staggering of the school day remains in place. We will review this after half term, depending on the impact of national lockdown easing measures.
Swearing
A reminder! We are actively working to make sure the children do not swear in school, and if they do, you will receive a call at the end of the day. We would really like your help in this. A parent has notified me that there were other parents swearing on site this week, which is disappointing. Please remember that there are children around and adults who do not wish to hear bad language. Thank you
Please see the attached information from South Glos council regarding what to do if your child develops coronavirus over the half-term break.

This week, Mrs Haydon and Woodpecker class give their book recommendations.
Mrs Haydon says:
"This week I read ‘The Highland Falcon Thief’ by MG Leonard – it was brilliant!
It is the story of Harrison Beck (Hal for short) who has to go and stay with his uncle whilst his mum has a baby. Hal’s uncle is a travel journalist about to embark on the final journey of the steam train the Highland Falcon; he takes Hal with him and so begins a tale of mystery and intrigue as jewellery is stolen! I really enjoyed this story; it has a good plot, and some great descriptions of the journey on a steam train. It is full of excitement and adventure, and I would recommend this series of books by the same author who wrote the ‘Beetle Boy’ series."
'Absolutely Everything. A history of Earth, dinosaurs, rulers, robots and other things too numerous to mention' by Christopher Lloyd
"This is a fantastic non-fiction book full of weird and wonderful facts about the world starting from 13.8 billion years ago and ending in the present day. It covers what happened, when it happened, where it happened and what happened at the same time. The author delivers interesting facts through diagrams, timelines, cartoons and explanations. He even poses questions to the reader to deepen their understanding, which sometimes completely changes how you think about a certain piece of information.
This is a great read for anyone with an inquisitive mind."
Joshua from Woodpeckers enjoys:
'Heroes of Olympus: The Lost Hero' by Rick Riordan
"This book is all about 3 demi gods, one demi god is missing and they are searching for the Greek Goddess of marriage. I like this book because the Greek gods are really interesting and I love how they are described. The author also makes the story seem really real in your mind!"
