Dear parents and carers
I hope you have had a good week! We are cautiously heading towards the end of the academic year, and whilst it would have been fantastic to celebrate by having you all in the building for end of year activities like the Y6 performance, sports days, summer fair, it sadly is not possible, particularly with the rise in cases of covid in the local area. The MAD Olympiad has also been postponed this week. Thank you for all you are doing to make sure we remain a safe community! Just a reminder….if your child has symptoms such as a new cough, a high temperature and/or loss of smell, please do not bring them into school. Book a PCR test and let us know the outcome straight away. Thank you
Coach Ollie
Coach Ollie works for Bristol Sports Foundation, who we use to enhance our PE provision in school. Sadly, Ollie is leaving Bristol Sports to go to a different provider, so his final day with us is next Tuesday (22nd June) We are sorry to see him go, as he has been very much a member of Team Tynings. I am sure you will join me in wishing him well in his new role. We will be continuing our partnership with Bristol Sports Foundation and look forward to introducing you to a new head coach soon.
Class photos
The majority of these took place yesterday with Deer and Bats class having theirs on Monday morning next week. The proofs will then be available to you as soon as we get them. Please can I remind you that these photos should not be placed on social media. Thank you
School Uniform
Another reminder – please organise your school uniform as early as you can this year. We have been promised that stocks will be available ready for September, even if you do not receive them straight away. In the meantime, please make sure your children are coming to school in the correct uniform until the end of term. PE kit, including hoodies, should only be worn on PE days, and normal uniform should be worn on Forest school days (children bring in a change of clothes for this.) Thank you once again!
The PSFA would like to thank everyone for supporting the lolly sale which raised £117. They were especially impressed with the politeness of the older children, who were buying lollies unaccompanied.
Important news on School Uniform Shopping
As term draws to a close, we’re already looking ahead to September. Our uniform provider Monkhouse is working hard to make sure that despite the challenges posed by international shipping, Covid and Brexit, our parents will be able to find everything they need.
This is a reminder that the best way to ensure your child has all the uniform they need in good time for the start of the school year is to shop early, if this is possible for you.
Please book your appointment with Monkhouse now, preferably choosing an appointment in July or Early August.
To stay up to date with news on stock and special offers on uniform and accessories, register for updates from our supplier here.
Thank you for your understanding. We know not all parents are able to shop early, but the challenges posed when large numbers of families shop in the last two weeks of August is something we are all keen to avoid. After what has been an interesting school year, please help us to help you to ensure we all return in September raring to go!
It is the turn of Badgers to give their book recommendations this week.
Miss Hudson says:
'Toto the Ninja cat and the mystery jewel thief' by Dermot O’Leary
"This is an engaging and funny book written by Dermot O’Leary. It is part of a collection and my class really, really enjoyed reading this book last term. Dermot’s cat, Toto, goes on an adventure to find the thief of the animal world’s missing crown jewels. It’s hard to know if the team will find them with all the hurdles they face along the way!"
Luke from Badgers says:
'Stowaway' by Jim Ladd.
"I like this book because it has lots of great vocabulary. The words are really powerful. Also, I like the characters and their names. It is an adventure!"
