Dear parents and carers
Oh how I am missing being in school! Being confined to my house and sitting in my kitchen really is not quite the same. I am really looking forward to dialling in to today’s celebration assembly – at least I will be able to see everyone’s smiling faces then!
I have been able to carry out interviews this week, and will be able to give you the full class details by next week’s newsletter. I cannot wait for this particular jigsaw to be complete.
I hope you have all had a good week – and those of you watching, enjoy the football this weekend!
Southern Brooks Community Partnership
EU, EEA or Swiss nationals and their families
Following Brexit, the UK government launched the EU Settlement Scheme in 2019. EU, EEA or Swiss citizens and their families had to apply to the scheme by 30th June 2021 in order to secure rights to study, work and live in the UK, as well as accessing benefits and healthcare.
However, late applications will now be considered by the Home Office if there is a ‘reasonable excuse’ for delay. These can include applications on behalf of children and vulnerable adults. Children of EU nationals are required to make their own application and are not covered by their parent’s status.
Local charity, Southern Brooks Community Partnerships, supported by South Gloucestershire Council, offers free support to local EU nationals with late applications. If you need support, contact us straightaway on [email protected] or 07971 797 770.
Eat Well For Less? are currently casting for their 8th series and are looking for families / households who would like to eat well and save some money on their weekly shop.
“The show is on a mission to prove that it is possible for families and households to save money on their food budget without scrimping on taste and nutrition. We hope that by analysing the shopping habits of UK families, we can help to show where they can source the best and cheapest quality food.”

This week, we hear from Hedgehogs and Kingfishers, with their book recommendations.
Miss Davies recommends 'Ancient Egypt, Tales of God and Pharaohs' by Marcia Williams
"This excellent book is full of amazing stories about ancient Egypt. We have particularly loved reading and learning about ‘Isis and the Cobra’ and ‘Horus the Avenger’ in Kingfishers. The book is set out in comic book style and is retold in a funny and engaging way. I would recommend this book to anyone as it is extremely informative with some comedic moments along the way!"
Mylo Davies in Kingfishers recommends 'Phoenix' by S F Said.
"'Phoenix' is about a boy who goes on a mysterious adventure around a galaxy, meeting peculiar friends on a mission to find his father who is out there somewhere in space! I would recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure and space!"
Mrs English recommends 'The Colour Monster goes to School' by Anna Llenas
'This is the time of year when we all move on to new classes. Some of us can feel lots of different emotions at this time and this is perfectly normal. This book helps to understand our emotions with different colours. The Colour Monster is feeling a bit mixed up with lots of different colours at the start of the book when he is about to start school for the very first time. However by the end of this book he has turned yellow and pink meaning he loved his first day at school. It was lots of fun! I am sure you are going to love your first day in your new classes too!'
Franklin from Hedgehogs recommends 'The Creature Choir' by David Walliams
“I like this book because it is funny. I like the animals all singing. I like the little wolf the best because he is scary but can sing. I like the page where the animals are all frozen!”
