Dear parents and carers
It is thanks to yourselves and the children that we have a new set of values and a whole school vision that we all buy into. I thought I would take this opportunity to remind all of us of the values we chose together in January of this year.
Our values are KINDNESS, CURIOSITY and RESPECT. Along with our strapline of ‘Achieving together, inspiring each other’ these values have played an enormous part in our curriculum, which has been developed for this year. We now have a curriculum that is built under 6 themes:
Acceptance and Kindness
Building Relationships
The World Today
Adventure & Exploration
Different Cultures
Saving Our Planet
Each year group is working on any one of these themes for a block of time (see the curriculum section of the website for details)
All of these themes enable us to work towards our vision of being
‘A school that empowers all children to embrace learning, achieve their best, and build their emotional, social and physical well-being. We offer a safe, happy place where everyone is known and valued, and where differing needs are acknowledged’
Each week, our Monday assemblies focus on one of our values, or on one of our three rules, READY, RESPECTFUL, SAFE. This week, we looked at how school helps to keep us safe. We discussed rules, health and safety, stranger danger, road safety, e-safety, bikeability, anti-bullying work, and what it means to be safe in school. The children were overwhelmingly supportive of what we do to keep them safe whilst they are with us.
The staff have also spent considerable time making sure the school displays really show off the learning they have been doing over the past few weeks. Huge thanks to them for making the school look so good! We will be inviting you in before the end of term so that we can share all of the great learning that is taking place – please look out for the dates.
Just a reminder that the PSFA Annual General Meeting will take place on Tuesday 12th October at 7.15 pm. We really appreciate all of the work the PSFA do to raise funds for the school. We have talked about having a MUGA (multi-use games area) and we are also looking forward to (hopefully) receiving a double decker bus to have on site which we hope the PSFA will help us to kit out as a lunchtime club café, a sensory space and a small group working space. We have lots of plans!! The PSFA can only run their fantastic fundraising events with your support. We know that some committee members will be stepping down at this AGM – if you feel like you want to be more involved, please come along to the meeting and find out what it is all about!
Harvest celebrations
Thanks to Mrs Symons, and Liisa Wigmore, the vicar from St Stephens church, for organising our harvest collection and assemblies this week. Thank you for all of your food back donations, and well done to all of the Reception children who made animals out of fruit and vegetables….it was lovely to see them!
REMINDERS!
It is brilliant to see so many after school clubs taking place….please help us to safeguard the children in these clubs by leaving the school premises promptly at the end of the day. Thank you.
COVID updates
So far, the school is doing well regarding the number of cases we are seeing (only 4 since the start of term, and none transmitted in school) There is, however an awful cold going around. If you are at all unsure if your child has a cold or covid, please book a PCR test to be on the safe side, as many of the symptoms we are seeing are similar. In school, we continue to have well-ventilated rooms, and remind the children about handwashing as well as ‘safe’ coughing in to our elbows and ‘catch-it, kill-it, bin-it’
