Dear parents/carers
Last night saw two more successful children’s discos, run by the PSFA. Many thanks to all of the parents and staff who volunteer to ensure these events run safely and that the children enjoy them. There were many children really finding their groove!!
Next week, our new caretaker Mr Mundy begins working at The Tynings. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome him to the school and also to give Mrs Mundy an enormous thank you for everything she has done whilst we have been without a caretaker. She has been immense!
Thanks to the children and you we raised £340 for the WWF Wildfire fund to support the charity in helping animals affected by the wild fires. Thank you, and thank you once again to the four children – Zoe, George, Michael, and James – for suggesting we do this.
I would also like to thank those parents who came to parent forum this week. This is an invaluable source of feedback for me and the school, and gives you an opportunity to have a say on a number of issues and ideas to help us improve our school. The next forum is on Tuesday 31st March, at 9am. Please come along to have your say and find out more about the school’s perspective.
Communication – the office’s only method of communication to you is via the Szapp. We no longer use ‘teachers2parents’ to send out text messages or emails – everything comes through this new app – newsletters, messages, you can use it to send us absence requests, visit the website etc. We also use SIMs pay to ‘handle’ any payments required for trips etc. We aim to be a cashless school and hope that this makes things easier for you to make payments. If you aren’t sure how to access SIMs pay, or Szapp please contact Mrs Masters who will help you to get these set up on your phones.
Have a good weekend
Lois Haydon, Head Teacher
Apologies for the confusion regarding the dates for next week's parent consultation evenings. To clarify, the dates are Wednesday 12th February from 3.30 pm until 6.00 pm and Thursday 13th February between 5.00 pm and 7.30 pm. If you booked a slot for Tuesday 11th February, the appointment will be at the same time but on Wednesday 12th.
However, Miss Curtis will not be available on Wednesday 12th, but will be at the evening on Thursday 13th. If you booked an appoitment with her for the Wednesday, she will be able to see you at the same time on the Thursday. If you have any queries, please contact the Office.
Active Lifestlye Centres are running children's holiday courses over the February break. For more information and details, please use the links below:

What a beautiful week we have had outside. The sun has been shining and the birds have been serenading us as we go about our activities.
Year 2 practised their knot tying and put them to good use by making pine cone bird feeders. As a way of promoting independence the children are encouraged to volunteer overseeing the drink and snack table and also to do the washing up - We must say the volunteers so far have done a wonderful job.
Next weeks classes:
Monday - Deer
Tuesday – Woodpecker and Squirrel
Wednesday – Rabbit and Otter
This week's book recommendations come from Woodpeckers and Rabbits.
Lilliana in Woodpeckers says:
"My favourite book is 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire', as it is the best Harry Potter book and it has a great action packed story."
Mr Griffiths recommends:
"My favourite book is ‘Monster Slayer’ by Brian Patten as it has a great story, as well as lovely descriptions that really grip the reader"
Mrs Mcneill's favourite book is "After the Storm" by Nick Butterworth
"I love this book because I think Percy the Park Keeper is fantastic. He is very kind and such a great friend to all the animals. His adventures are so much fun!"
Lana from Rabbits enjoys "One Snowy Night" by Nick Butterworth:

A disappointing week, as whole school attendance slipped into amber. There were six green classes, but six red ones and two amber. There was a lot of absence due to sickness and colds. Please let's all try and stay healthy and ward off germs!
