Dear parents and carers
What a lovely Pudsey based day we have had in school today. Thank you for your donations to Children in Need. So far, we have raised £303! As well as this, a special mention must go to Fatimah in Foxes class, who has been busy doing a sponsored walk to raise money for Children in Need and has raised a whopping £150 – well done Fatimah!
This week we have been learning about bullying – what it is, and how we can stop it happening. Mrs Berger led two remote assemblies earlier in the week, when the children took part in ‘Odd Sock Day.’ The theme is ‘one kind word’ – something which sits with our values here at The Tynings. Our School Council have worked on a pupil friendly version of our anti-bullying policy which we will be sharing with everyone soon.
School Communication
As you know, all of our communication should now come via Arbor, apart from the Newsletter. Please note, this communication could be text or email, depending on the length of the message.
Play boxes
Are you having a pre-Christmas clear out before Father Christmas comes and tops up toys and games? We are looking to develop some outdoor play boxes for the KS1 children to use at lunchtimes. We are looking for donations of dinosaurs, toy cars, wooden building bricks, duplo, lego etc to make up play boxes which can be used on our artificial surface. Lunchtime club are also looking for any quality games which you might be thinking about giving away. If you have anything you would like to re-purpose, please send in to the school office. Thank you!

Mini Christmas Fair
We are really hoping to hold our Christmas Fair, on Friday 10th December, 4pm – 7pm. The main event is Father Christmas, and tickets will be on sale to see him nearer the time. We will be asking you to come to the fair around this slot time, rather than for the whole time in order to keep numbers on site as low as possible – and to make sure everyone has a Covid-free Christmas! Look out for PSFA posters advertising the event.
Salvation Army Christmas Appeal
The Tynings have been supporting this appeal for the last three years.
By buying a gift you can make a real difference to families in our local community.
Give A Gift And Light Up A Life!
As you do your Christmas shopping could you buy an extra gift?
They are looking for brand new gifts for children aged between 0 - 18 especially ages under 3 and over 10.
Just a few ideas - games, colouring books and pencils, jigsaws, construction toys, storybooks.
Please bring your gift into school by Monday 22nd November – the Salvation Army will wrap all the gifts.
Thank you
Janet Poole

Mrs Haydon and Woodpeckers class give their book reviews this week.
Mr Griffiths recommends 'The Last Polar Bears’ by Harry Horse
"This is a lovely book that consists of various letters written by a Grandfather to his Grandson whist he is on an expedition of a lifetime to visit polar bears in the North Pole. The Grandad travels on their vessel ‘The Unsinkable’ which is a very foreboding name for a boat. The story is full of twists and turns and there are many tense, emotional letters as well as some very comical moments involving the Grandfather’s dog Roo. It is a perfect example of letter writing, as the writer makes you feel like you are the child that the grandfather is writing to, which really allows you to become fully invested in the story.
This is a great read for both children and adults and I would highly recommend it."
Emily-Jane enjoys 'Stitch Head’ by Guy Bass
"I like this book because it is about a creepy monster who missed his professor who made him. It is a spooky story that is actually really, really funny. When the main character came to life, the professor made a promise to him but sadly, the professor forgot his promise. The story tells us about the main characters journey to find his creator."
