Dear parents and carers
Thank you for your support in our ‘Dress to Express’ day earlier in the week. We raised £255.05 which we will use to contribute to the building of our Garden of Hope. The children have been busy working on the wellbeing books, mindfulness and DPA (daily physical activity) through the week to support our focus on Children’s Mental Health week.
Something to make us all smile….a visit from a dinosaur this week!
Covid updates:
We have seen far fewer cases this week, so perhaps we have ‘ridden the wave’ now, and hopefully we will have fewer children and staff becoming poorly. There appears to be new guidance coming soon, but for the rest of this term, we will continue as we have since coming back in September, including KS2 classes having lunches in their classrooms, lots of hand sanitising, and masks in the building. After half term, we hope that things can be even more ‘normal!’
Even though books and reading should be celebrated every day, we are coming up to the most exciting event of the year - World Book day which will be celebrated on Thursday 3rd March.
During this day, each class will be completing lots of exciting work on a chosen author.
Your child is invited to make a scene from a book in a shoe box (or any other suitable type of box) and bring into class from w/b 28th February.
Some examples:
We are thrilled to be able to run bedtime stories once again this year. This will be taking place on Thursday 3rd March 6 - 6:45pm when your child is invited to return to school in the dark (always exciting for them!) wearing their PJs if they wish and listen to a bedtime story. Teddies are also invited along too! Please let the office know by Thursday 17th February if you would like to book a place for your child.

This week we hear from Mrs Brown and Bats class, with their book reviews.
Mrs Brown would like to recommend 'Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs' by Giles Andreae and Russell Ayto.
"This book is great for any dinosaur lovers! Flinn is an ordinary little boy who gets recruited to help Captain Stubble find his beloved pirate ship, The Acorn. He needs to fight some very scary dinosaurs to get the ship back, including the Pirate Tyrannosaurus Rex!
This book is a great adventure story with a brave and fearless main character, Flinn. I loved reading it and I'm sure you will too!"
Miss Hannan recommends the book 'Lin Yi's Lantern' by Brenda Williams and Benjamin Lacombe.
"This has been our key text in Year 3 this term and we have absolutely loved it. It is a touching story about kindness and perseverance and teaches us to always think of others. It has also helped us with our learning as it includes fascinating information about the legend of the Moon Fairy, Chinese markets and there are even step-by-step instructions for creating your own paper lantern!"
Reggie from Bats class recommends the book 'The Cave' by Rob Hodgson.
He chose this book when he took home the class Snuggle up with a book bag last week and loved it. Reggie says "I liked this book because it is about a wolf who is kind to a little creature. I also enjoyed it because he likes doughnuts just like me and it is about friendship and being kind".
