Dear parents and carers
The Year 6 children have completed their SATS this week – the first year group to do so for two years due to the pandemic! They have conducted themselves brilliantly this week, have shown their commitment to doing well, and have approached their tests with great thoughtfulness and care. I am really proud of them – well done Year 6!
John Lewis Jubilee Competition
I received a reminder about this competition which I am passing on to you!
There is still time to Get out your art materials to celebrate Queen Elizabeth‘s 70th year reign in a Platinum Jubilee competition for Primary school children. We are looking for local primary aged children to draw, paint or collage bold, bright and colourful pictures of Queen Elizabeth II to decorate our restaurant, The Place To Eat on the second floor at John Lewis & Partners, Cribbs Causeway.
Our judge will be the well-known Bristol Artist, Jenny Urquhart. Her vibrant feel good paintings are a popular recognisable sight round Bristol & the South-West. Jenny did an amazing vlog on YouTube "Paint Bristol in easy-peasy steps" for children during Covid-19 last year, and is an official Wallace & Gromit artist on the Gromit Unleashed 2 - The Grand Appeal.
There are two age groups who can enter, 4 to 7, & 8 to 11 years old with the chance of winning a prize of a £50 Gift voucher for the winners’ of each of the two age groups. Not only that, but their Primary school will also win £250.
Please bring your entries into the store to the Experience Desk on the ground floor, clearly marked with your name, age and School on the back, by end of day Wednesday 1 June 2022
We look forward to seeing all the lovely pictures to celebrate a once in a lifetime occasion, Queen Elizabeth's II 70 year reign.

Thursday 1st September

Friday 25th November (new date)
Tuesday 3rd January (new date)
Monday 17th April (new date)
Jubilee updates:
Plans are well underway for our Jubilee focus week; there is a disco planned by the PSFA, the menu for our street party is sorted, and teachers are readying their lesson plans. It would really help our learning if you were able to share any artefacts you might have about the Queen, the royal family, and previous jubilees. If you have anything, we would love to borrow them from you to share with the children, and we will look after anything you send in very carefully. Please bring any objects to the office where we can make sure it is labelled for returning to you. Thank you!
Reminders!
Just a couple of things to remember J
- Please do not use the school car park for dropping off children in the morning; it is such a busy time and can be unsafe
- Children should be supervised by you until the class teachers open their doors in the morning – please do not bring them into school early and leave them! It is easy to book a space in breakfast club if you need to drop off early, and then we know everyone is safe and looked after
Thank you
Please see the attached poster for an art and comic club being started up by two Year 5 pupils.
Please find attached a flyer for new music beginner classes starting in South Glos at Warmley Music Centre after May half term.
Aimed at KS1 & 2, these classes are for children who would like to start to learn a musical instrument: flute, clarinet, saxophone, violin, viola, cello and guitar. No instrument is needed as they can be hired from the Music Hub.
