Dear parents and carers
What a great time we have had this week with our Sports Days. It was so good to see the children participating in their carousel of events and the running races, and brilliant to see so many parents coming to school to watch. It really does feel like we are back to ‘normal!’ Thank you to Miss Davies, ably assisted by Mr White, for organising the events. It was great to see the teachers taking part in races too!
The final standings for sports day are:
1st 1063 points Eastleigh Blue
2nd 1048 points Page Orange
3rd 1036 points Rodway Yellow
4th 1005 points Teewell Green
Children in Y2 attended the local Commonwealth Festival last week, and on our Inset day, Miss Davies and Mr White took a group of athletes to the MAD Olympiad. All of the children represented the school brilliantly and we also won some medals!
Well done to Hettie (Deers) 1st in the sprint, Josh (Foxes) 3rd in the sprint, and Ted (Foxes) 3rd in speed bounce.
Well done to Mr White, who won the teachers race at the Olympiad (and snuck into our KS2 dads’ race too!)
A huge well done to Dylan in Badgers class – he took part in the ‘Pretty Muddy’ 5K Race for Life last weekend and has raised £190 for Cancer Research – well done Dylan!
Also attached to the newsletter is the HAF Programme for this summer. This is the ‘holiday’s and food’ programme and it provides a number of different activities which parents can sign their children up to for the summer holiday.

This week we hear from Squirrels and Bats, with their book reviews.
Miss Thomas has chosen ‘The Rainbow Parade’ by Emily Nielson.
“I love this story as it celebrates a delightfully dynamic child’s-eye view of the festivities at a Pride Festival parade! It’s all about courage and accepting everyone.”
Darcey in Squirrels Class has chosen ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ by Eric Carle.
“I like it when he eats all the yummy food. My favourite one is the ice-cream cone!”
Miss Hannan recommends the book 'Meesha makes a friend' by Tom Percival.
"It is a lovely story about a young girl who loves making things but finds it tricky to make friends. This book shares both the difficulties and the joys of making and keeping friends and is a very valuable story to share with young children. My class have loved this story this year as it promotes one of our core school values which is kindness."
Josh in Bat class recommends the book 'Into the Forest' by Anthony Browne.
"This book is about a boy that goes into a forest to meet his Grandma. The forest is dark and scary and he meets different people along the way. This story reminds me of Little Red Riding Hood. My favourite part was when there was a strange noise in Grandma's house. This book is great!"
