Dear parents and carers
The end of term is hurtling towards! It was good to see so many of you at the Summer Fair last Friday; it really did feel like things were back to normal. I am pleased to let you know that the PSFA raised £1300 at the event, and they have asked me to pass on their thanks to everyone who came. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the PSFA for all of their hard work over this past year – they have made a very generous donation to the school of £10000, which will go towards paying for our brand new MUGA.
Many apologies for the lunchtime hiccup today – we had no gas supply into the kitchen all of a sudden, so no cooker, no steamer – no anything!! The children enjoyed taking the opportunity to have a picnic on the field outside, after some frantic sandwich making – thank you to the kitchen staff for making sure everyone was fed!
The EYFS classes had a fabulous trip to Weston Super Mare yesterday. We thoroughly enjoyed building sandcastles, burying our feet and having an ice cream!
A reminder!
Please do not hang around at the end of the school day! Whilst we appreciate the grounds are a great place to play, it causes us a safeguarding issue when afterschool club and other activities are running. It would be really helpful if you could leave the school grounds as soon as you have your children. Thank you
Please see the attached leaflet from Mangotsfield School, advertising vacancies they are recruiting for September.

It is Hedgehogs and Kestrels turn to give their book reviews this week.
Mrs English’s review:
'Rita's Rabbit' by Laura Mucha and Hannah Peck
"I love reading this book to my daughter. She really likes the illustrations. Rita is desperate to be given a rabbit for her birthday. Instead, her grandpa gets her Spike, a bearded dragon. Rita is crushed by disappointment. Then a rabbit arrives, unexpectedly. But it proves to be nothing like the fluffy affectionate creature of her dreams. It is destructive, aggressive and unpleasant. Finally, its real owners reclaim it and Rita sees how lovable and loyal Spike had been all along. What we think we want, the thing we shape in our minds as the focus of all satisfaction and fulfilment, may in fact be the very last thing we need, and what has been under our noses the whole time is, in reality, the thing we want most."
"I enjoyed reading this with mummy at our reading cafe. I like this book because I love dinosaurs. They come alive!"
"As a lover of both fiction and football, I loved this book! Without spoiling, this inspirational read can teach us that nothing is impossible even when it feels like it might be. Budi (the main character) continues to follow his dreams to be like his footballing hero someday, even with a lot of trouble thrown in his path. This book encourages us to dream big and to never let things stand in our way!! I also learnt some Indonesian facts/words too! A great story that all upper key stage 2 readers will love."
Morgan in Kestrels enjoys 'The Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips' by Michael Morpurgo
"I love reading all sorts of books including fiction and non-fiction stories. I just finished the ‘Adolphus Tips’ book, by Michael Morpurgo, and I liked it because the main character is a cat and I love cats. My cats are called Saskia and Bella. Saski is 18 and Bella is 10 or 11.
Adolphus Tips is a cat who keeps having kittens and one day their hotel had being blown up. Tips was left in the war practice zone and was struggling for survival, but luckily she found her way home and was reunited with her owner."
