Key Information
Year 4's PE days are on a Friday afternoon and alternate Wednesdays. In term 3 we will be focusing on 'Commando Joes'. We will be following the explorer Kirra Salak and her adventures in saving Gorillas. We will partiipating in various tasks aimed at developing our team work and comminication skills. In PE in Term 4, children will be focusing on their hockey skills. During these sessions, children will be taught to pass dribble and shoot.
Children are expected to change their books when required. Reading records will be checked every Thursday however reading records are expected to be in the school daily.
This Term's Learning
During term 3, We will be exploring the melting planet where we will start to recognise the impact we are having on the climate. This topic will start to develop childrens understanding of global warming and the impact it has on humans and nature. In addition to this, we will start to learn scientific conecpts behind different states of matter and how they can change . In Mathematics, We will begin our journey into multiplication and we will continue to develop our understanding of fractions. In reading, we will be following the book 'The last Bear' by Hannah Gold. Where we be focusing on reading fluency with some comprehension. In English, Children will be following the journey of Ernest Shackleton and his travels to the South Pole. We will be using speech and practice moving subordinate clauses to create a range of sentence structure.
Maths
Children are expected to complete regular timestables practice. They will be provided with homework to complete with this.
Reading
Please can children read at home a minimum of 5 times a week. It would be useful for adults to ask questions regarding the book to help with their child's comprehension. We also ask that reading records are brought into school every day. We will be checking how many times the children have read every Friday.
