We are so excited for the next year and we have so many exciting things planned. Please check this page for any updates and events. On a Wednesday afternoon your child will either have PE with Bristol Sport or Forest School with Mrs Pike. Please ensure your child has correct forest school kit and wellies in school. Please send your child to school in PE kit every Wednesday, even if they have Forest School.

Term 1 learning:

You, Me, Them

For Term 1, our topic will be called 'You, Me, Them' and is based on the theme of Acceptance and Kindness. Our first key text will be The Adventures of Beekle the Unimaginary Friend by Dan Santat. Our second key text will be The Lost Thing by Shaun Tan. The book follows a young boy who meets a bizarre creature. The boy tries to find where it belongs but no one will accept the strange creature.

Within English, we will initially focus on a selection of short burst writing to increase stamina after the summer break and to focus on essential skills. We will the move to writing a quest story as our fiction focus. We will then be looking at writing a set of instructions to help the Lost Thing find its way home. Within maths, we will look at place value to 1,000,000 and develop our sense of number before moving onto addition and subtraction where we will be looking at adding and subtracting 4-digit numbers with multiple exchanges. Our topic is heavily science based and we will be learning about the lifecycle of animals and plants. We will explore the asexual and sexual reproduction systems of plants and then move onto explore gestation within different animals. RE this term will focus on the big question 'Why do people believe in God' and we will explore the reasons for and against this and look at lots of different viewpoints. Within PE, we are going to be focusing on fundamental skills and music will follow our Charanga scheme. Within PSHE, we will be focusing on Changing Me and will cover our statutory SRE curriculum. Within art, we will be looking at the work of Margaret Mee and creating our very own botanical lifecycle using our sketching and watercolour skills.
