Dear Pine Martens and Otters,
We hope you have had a lovely new year and an incredible Christmas Period. We have been left devastated by the decision that all the children will not be coming back into school this term. However with careful planning we have created a variety of ways to ensure strong progress from the children. All children are expected to complete all work provided. This is not only to further their education but also to ensure they are not left behind. We have decided that everything that is provided online is mirrored within the school. All work which has been provided will have a signifcant impact on your child's development as we will be recapping previously learned lessons as well as providing new learning from a distance. Over the course of the week, you should expect a phonecall from a member of the Year 5 team. This may be for a catch up and to aid learning or this could be for reading interventions. We are constantly here to support you and one member of the teaching team will be available via email if you need support. If you are unable to access google classrooms please contact the school so we can support you in accessing it. If you are still unable to upload/access work on google classroom please email the work to the office who will send it to the year 5 teaching team. Finally, we care greatly for your children and during these uncertain times they may need additional pastoral care. Please contact us in these circumstances so we can ensure that we can support you.
Thankyou for your continued hardwork and we are aware of the difficulties you face.

Year 5 PE days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Please ensure your child has the appropriate kit in school on these days.
We will be checking children's reading records every Friday to make sure they have read 5 times that week. Please remind your child to bring in their reading record on this day.
Learning at home
As well as ensuring your child reads 5 times a week and practises their spellings, please encourage your child to practise their maths skills using Times Tables Rockstars and Mathletics. Basic maths skills underpin every new skill the children will learn in Year 5. The more confident they are with their times tables and number facts, the more confident mathematicians they will be!
